Yeah it’s fun. I’m still pretty inexperienced, I’ve found a couple of flakes but most is trash.

The one I’ve got is more suited to beach and treasure hunting. I get better results using the sluice. It can be pointless going over sone well known spots with a cheap detector because they’ve already been flogged out by people with GPZs and GPXs.

I’m in Gympie so enough around me.

The issue with these detectors is their initial cost. The current Minelab top shelf are 8 and 10 grand so you pretty much have to be a retired boomer to be in the market for them.

That said, there’s cheaper PI detectors on the market than these which still give good results. I’m currently running an Equinox 600 which I’ve more or less set for gold hunting but I get better results dumping the sluice in the creek.

Not that I can afford it, but apparently Minelab are dropping a new ‘high end’ metal detector in a couple weeks. This will probably be a pulse induction, aimed at gold detecting.
