Walmart acting wonky, I had to make an account, bought the thing, then THEY canceled the order. So yeah, no.

Found a used physical on Ebay.

@[email protected] @[email protected] It’s funny, I was just watching a preview of Varlet. They discussed how/why the developer chose turn-based after considering action. Turn-based allows for more story telling WITHIN the combat. Allows for a different more-introspective decision making process (not better/worse, just different) that fits the story & adventure they were trying to create. The game is all about the decisions you make, so combat should match!

And I’ve played some messy JRPGs. But thanks for the heads up! Will watch a few reviews to levelset myself as I get closer to when it’s time to play it.

Mid-to-small have it covered, but at the same time, AAA y’all… turn-based is clearly viable (Balders Gate 3, Metaphor, E33) so just make a great game with combat that fits the game! People still play turn-based chess after 4 trillion years. Board games. Hell, fucking baseball lol. Of COURSE it’s viable. But just be smart & creative when you design it!

@[email protected] It’s the “Hollywood-ification” of videogames. Only safe low risk bets on big games. And please try to use established IP.

So it’s up to the indies and smaller studios to innovate and dream and have fun.

@[email protected] Thank you! It’s been epic, but with the way CS4 ends, I feel satiated. A nice break before checking in on Erebonia and Crossbell, like just a bit of peace, sounds right. I say that, but watch, a week from now I’ll load up Reverie. lol.

@[email protected] I just take my time, do an hour here, 2 hours there. No rush! The games are usually broken up in a way where I’ll have a chill night with story & dialogue, and a night working on a big dungeon. ha!

@[email protected] yeah, CS3 would be such a hard place to start!
