So… my mom spent some time as a photog in Mexico, especially upon their prison system of justice, and back-in-the-States, even in the 80’s or so, insisted that our typical ‘American attempt at taco night’ should include actual tortilla-press wraps, and by golly, she managed to procure one! (the press, I mean) And they were typically great, either en trigo o maize!

Thanks for filling that in. The trading aspect I was thinking about, but wasn’t sure about. Still, as I recall, the French commonly had decent relations with NA’s, and frequently traded with them. And the French would have been in the area, or a bit Northward, I think.

So that might explain how NA’s knew to add the right amount of powder, how to handle it, and that sort of thing.
