    Pretty impressive that they seem to have captured and figured out how to use some rifles at such an early date, I would think. But I guess I’m not all that well-versed on how these conflicts were going, at the time.

      One of the great advantages of the gun is that it’s incredibly easy to learn compared to traditional weapons.

      European colonists had been in the area for about ~50 years at the time, and guns were commonly traded as a high-value good, so there was doubtless opportunity to learn how to use them before large-scale conflict began.

        Thanks for filling that in. The trading aspect I was thinking about, but wasn’t sure about. Still, as I recall, the French commonly had decent relations with NA’s, and frequently traded with them. And the French would have been in the area, or a bit Northward, I think.

        So that might explain how NA’s knew to add the right amount of powder, how to handle it, and that sort of thing.
