cats and dogs generally don’t get along very well

We know from our own experience that this is not true.

And investigations like the linked article are very important imho, even though they aren’t too surprisingunfortunately.

Headline: Murder victims often don’t get a chance to speak up in court. (This was an actual headline…).

    I skimmed the article.

The complaints here seem to be for behavior that is not exactly secret in the entire drug & medical supply business community.

They clamped down somewhat on drug reps in the early 2000s. People in my pharmacy residency used to get plenty of stuff like trips & free box seats to concerts & sporting events from the drug companies. That all went away the year I started in 2002. The drug companies weren’t even allowed to give out free pens in the hospital anymore.

Surgical supplies & medical products are still pretty Wild West in their marketing tactics, however.

Companies exist to make a profit, not to be nice to people. The loyalty of the executives lies, by law, on the side of the owners/shareholders.

Everything is as it should be, per our current paradigm.

Umm YEAH, here’s the thing. They’re a corporate tech giant. Of COURSE they put profits before patients, that’s the business model of every corporation. It’s like my friend who works in Hollywood getting disgrunted and one day he said to me, “I’m so disillusioned, it’s all about making money.” Well no duh! What else WOULD it be about for them???

Most companies are primarily concerned with profit first, they have to be to survive. Only non-profits really have the focus more on people than on making money, they have the luxury but even those are often governed by profit-making boards.
