The migratory Far Eastern Curlew travels more than 10,000km annually, flying from their breeding grounds in Siberia to various parts of Oz, as far as South Australia. After feeding and regaining weight and strength, these shorebirds once again embark on the long-haul flight back to Siberia.

They are critically endangered and as you will see from the following video people want to protect them but face many obstacles from various industries.

Over the last thirty years, the population of the Far Eastern Curlew has suffered an almost 50% reduction in Australia (80% worldwide), placing them at the highest National rating of Critically Endangered.
