1·2 年前That’s awesome! If you’re worried about the religiosity then you might be surprised. My pastor will often say “we welcome both your beliefs and disbeliefs” and that is how I knew my atheist heart had found a home.

Is that a generalization though? Seems like if there’s an exception then it proves the rule. Conservatism isn’t an aesthetic choice, it is a belief structure that hierarchies are not just good, but they should be set in stone.
OP isn’t stating they can’t change, but it has to personally happen to them in order for them to get perspective. That means the education or activism has to come from someone they already care about for it to matter. This is why when my ultra conservative Dad visits, we all go as a family to the most queer Church in town.
Just what I’ve been looking for, it supports offline playing!
Anyone know the exact issue this came from?

News@lemmy.world•Bill Gates thinks the super-wealthy should pay more tax – and plenty of rich people agreeEnglish
6·2 年前Our current government is all too happy to build weapons with borrowed money. What taxation does is it causes deflation, and a wealth tax has the benefit of deflating the power of the ultra-wealthy.

713·2 年前People are right to point out that he should not simply cut a check to the government, instead he should lobby for higher wealth taxes like he lobbies for patents or voucher schools. Anything less is just free PR.

2·2 年前Fantastic read, shared at work and now following on mastodon. Also had this thought in regards to my own work:
… I find it reflects a similar problem we’re having with our code base: “simple is not always easy”. This article points out that Generative AI does what is easy/cheap, when what we really need is simplicity (or simplified complexity)
There’s probably another article to write about this, I would title it: “Generative AI won’t solve your Cynefin domain problem”

4·2 年前And now we accelerate the process with generative AI, resampling data into “new” content for profit. But I can’t shake the feeling this will be an undoing, like it somehow devalues the collated data becauce it becomes so abundant (and synthetic).

I hate how the Bible is being used as a nationalist prop. Nationalism was a theme of the old testament and Jesus called his followers to move beyond national identity. But that’s how fascism works, it apropariates instead of actually creating something new.
