Okay after reading I see some of the connections between the games I missed or didn’t think hard enough about.

I see the want for the game to be standalone but these connections seem to vague to me.

The character story telling was so good but the larger story was just not well communicated and the 30 - 60 minute info dumps did not hold my attention many times.

Final game time for me was 108 hours. This is the longest I have spent on any #jrpg and totally due to the side quests both being interesting, character focused, and having some great in world consequences.

I did not do the ascension quest for every hero but did it for well over half.

Probably the closest to 100% i have gotten in any game.

I also wish Xenoblade 3 had better ties with the others games. Some hints in the end but they make no sense to me.

TBH I think Xenoblade 2 had a better story even if it was ruined by really weird fan service. And the Xenoblade 2 battle system was a little better though it was so poorly explained I spent a lot of the game not understanding it.

In general the story was not told in a way that made too much sense to me.

The characters were really well flashed out, better then most games. And even outside of the 6 main characters there were dozens of characters with interesting stories.

The game play loop was generally really good. Or maybe I should say enjoyable. I like out leveling and smashing stuff. But this did make many boss battles overly long and a bore.

wow I really wish they talked more about how the game’s story developed!

TBH I was dying on many normal enemies.

So far I have not gotten the group parry to work. And I wish there was a mini map

Next a quick side quest to play Clair Obscur before back to Xenoblade 3.
