Phone far too offen. I wouldn’t even need to get up to watch in my TV just turn around in Bed. But often I watch quick videos, or finish a video I’ve started while cooking, on my phone my TV just over there on the Wall. Often I’ll turn off the TV to sleep and just grab my phone and watch half an hour of shorts
Been using GNOME since ~ 3.8/3.10 (so i guess a while now) and out of the box it mostly just works for me. I have maybe 3-4 extensions none of which I desperately rely on (although TopIcons is clutch) and I agree with most design choices. I’ve thought about switching some times but I think all I would do is try to replicate my GNOME workflow elswhere so why bother?
I’m sorry what? Ctrl+Alt+t is bound to opening a terminal emulator (whichever I fancy ATM) on any system I use. I know it’s a Ubuntu binding but I got so used to it if I’m ever on a system that doesn’t have it I just hammer it 15 times till I gather that it’s not set up there so this would never work for me 😅

Now the year of the Linux Desktop is a finicky definition by tradition. To me its a personal distinction. Whenever Linux replaced* your previous desktop OS is YOUR year of the Linux Desktop.
* replaced is also not discreet but more of when you felt you replaced your Desktop

I had used duckdns for a while back in the day. Always worked great.
These days I have a domain at namecheap which provides a DynDNS feature as well so I’m using that.
And around here a lot of leftist spaces enable you to have fun while spending little to nothing. Dirty punk concerts for a low cover charge and beer almost as cheap as in the store. And most of not all of those prices are “pay less if you can’t afford it”.
Other than that if agree with other commenters. Knowing spaces/people to hang at/with. I’m perfectly fine spending time in my one bedroom if I’m not alone all the time there so having some friends over, even if it might be crammed, and just shooting the shit is a simple and affordable way to have a good time

Revanced on my phone for watching quick videos/on the go and SmartTube on the TV. If I find a longer video to watch I usually start it in Revanced and then play it from history in SmartTube

You know who used to do that? Microsoft Teams. I would take photos with my phone and upload them via Teams, Teams would display them just fine but saving them teams would name them .png (even though they were jpeg) and I couldn’t open them with the gnome image viewer (this is also how I found out that the image viewer prioritizes extension over magic byte (which seems stupid to me).

Don’t make the same mistake I did and get a mini PC with at least two of the same interface (so 2x data or 2x m.2) I have one with only one m.2 and so I have os and data all on a single nvme with no redundancy (I know raid/zfs mirror is no backup but redundancy is still better than none)

Seriously that’s really disappointing. It really seems like investors decides that they needed to “diversify” their offering and they need something with AI now … Framework was on a good path imo but of course a repairable laptop only goes so far since people can repair it and don’t need to replace it every 2 years (or maybe just replace the motherboard) so if you want to grow you need to make more products …

Honestly. I used to always keep my window open* over the night. This winter was the first I have regularly not opened my window and just opened it for a bit during the day (yes stoßlüften), which I of course did before as well, since I’m German 😅
* when I say “open” I mean my window would usually be tilted open (“gekippt”) not fully opened wide
