Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI introduces Sora, its text-to-video AI modelEnglish
18·2 years agoAnd the largest ever decoder since it’ll need the whole model to work. I’m not particularly knowledgeable on AI but I’ll assume this will occupy hundreds of gigabytes, correct me if I’m wrong there. In comparison, libdav1d, an av1 decoder, weighs less than 2 MB.
True we should vote with our wallet for communism instead. :3c
You get it. I refuse to put effort/time into making coffee when Krönung instant tastes so good. If you first mix it with a little cold water before pouring hot it tastes even better.

21·2 years agoThey are still the problem either way. Even back when it was just Netflix I cancelled my subscription because they incriminate their own paying customers with intrusive DRM. I was tired of only being able to watch 720p just because I was running Linux. All for a copy protection with 0% success rate since it gets ripped anyway.

39·2 years agoThat’s funny that you mention hardware, cause in Germany you pay a set fee for each device (13.19€ for a computer, 6.25€ for a phone) on purchase since it could be used to create copies of media.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do we know the universe outside our solar system truly exists?
1·2 years agoIn ours we can send probes to confirm our observations, but the closest other star is so far away we’ll never even get 1% closer in our lifetime.
I’ve already gotten good answers to why this shouldn’t matter though.

2·2 years agoMost Android phones usually allow you to require pin re-entry by clicking an open lock or a “Lockdown” button in shutdown menu. It seems for iOS it’s Power + Volume Up/Down but I can’t confirm this.
