@chickenf622 The problem is that she keeps us up at night and I fall asleep during my work day. She’s been here two weeks now.

techsupport@lemmy.world•Has anyone ever had this issue with NVMe SSDs?
1·1 year ago@pavel @techsupport @aliceif It wasn’t lying. Turns out the drive was fine, actually! It seems like the problem was caused by a dusty M.2 slot.

2·1 year ago@BananaTrifleViolin You are a genius. It’s been ten days now and the drive has been working flawlessly.
☝🏻 Clean your M.2 slots, everyone.

1·1 year agoPNY’s own “SSD Toolbox” reports 100% SSD Life (whatever that means) and no available firmware updates. I can also “optimizate” my SSD here, which is funny.

9·1 year ago@BananaTrifleViolin Good idea. The M.2 slot was left unpopulated for years before I added this drive. It’s possible that some dust got in there causing a connection issue.
I re-seated it and wiggled it around a bit to ensure any dust between the contacts got out of the way. It’s being properly recognised now, but we’ll see for how long.

1·1 year ago@aliceif @techsupport I have never seen SMART report an actual problem in a useful way, and also not this time. The drive claims it’s fine.

2·1 year agoNevermind, Linux also doesn’t like it now. I guess it’s faulty. *sigh*
I don’t think it’s fake. I got it from a local shop which I usually trust.

Gaming@beehaw.org•What is something (feature, modes, settings...) you would like to see become a standard in video games?
8·2 years ago@Plume Oh yeah and this: Start the game in a neutral area or room where you can test the controls and sound are working properly and ensure the performance is right BEFORE the intro cutscene plays.

Gaming@beehaw.org•What is something (feature, modes, settings...) you would like to see become a standard in video games?
4·2 years ago@Plume The Witness has no menu and no savegames. When you boot it up, you’re instantly exactly where you left off.
This doesn’t work for all games, but I wish more games would do it like that.

2·2 years ago@AnonStoleMyPants @tal And being able to pause a cutscene (That includes putting the system to sleep now!)

Android@lemdro.id•WhatsApp turns on passwordless logins with passkeys for Android users - The Verge
111·2 years ago@ijeff I’m never going to use passkeys because they require to have a lockscreen on the device, and I don’t have one.
You might think “Isn’t that kinda dangerous?”
And I say: My devices are never left unattended, so a lockscreen is just an obstacle to get back where I was. Honestly, try disabling your lockscreen. The fact that you can press one button and be right where you left off is priceless.
So, screw passkeys and their stupid rules.

11·2 years ago@PuppyOSAndCoffee Probably nothing for a N900 but I’ve heard so much of it. I really should give it a try. How does Enlightenment run with older hardware? I’m talking 8-10 years old.

Android@lemdro.id•Apple’s iPhone Cedes Ground to Google’s Pixel in Japan
3·2 years ago@Sentientted @CookieJarObserver The only gripe I have with the Pixel (4a in my case) is that the file system is so locked down, but that’s just a modern Android thing. I wish I was able to change the default search engine but eh, can’t complain.
I don’t have a Pinephone personally, but #postmarketOS has come a long way and supposedly runs very well on recent hardware. Give it another 1-2 years and it will be rock solid for daily use.
