The fascists are winning because they aren’t normal establishment politicians, at least to the uninformed. They are “different” and that is what people want, anything other than the status quo. It’s how fascists have always gained power. They exist, because otherwise there is functionally a vacuum, a government that ignores people’s demands for help.

You don’t hold back fascism. And you certainly don’t hold it back with ineffective “centrism”. You push it back with a greater opposing force. You push it down to the ground. Then you stomp its face in until it is no longer breathing. You pounce on it when it is at its weakest. You kill it. You excise it like the cancer it is. You eliminate it quickly, decisively, permanently. Or you die. Simple as that, man.

I’m a socialist that grew up in the south watching my dad go from Rush Limbaugh to Fox News to Facebook MAGAdom. We went from debating policy in my teens, to debating reality in my 20s and 30s, and finally to me refusing to participate because I could see he was getting old.

That didn’t stop him from dying in an underfunded and rundown rural hospital with Fox News blaring on the TV in his room.

I’ve been off Facebook for at least 15 years. I’ve been trying to move people away from it for so long, or at least getting people to stop sharing shit about their kids, but a lot of people use it as their primary means of communication, news, photo sharing, etc. I just don’t get it. I do think most people I know just have ghost accounts now, though. But for some, Facebook is their internet. When they send me Facebook links, I just don’t interact with it at all. I don’t know what they sent me because I refuse to click the link, and even if I did, Facebook is blocked by my firewall and DNS so I won’t even be able to see it without getting around my own network. I just don’t even respond.

Politics has just always been such a no-no topic at work, it’s no wonder we can’t organize any sort of real labor movement now.

I think it’s even worse in the MAGA era.

Man I feel you. There are so many things I want to read, so it’s hard to stay focused on one thing sometimes. I have like five or six books right now in various stages of completion next to my couch. I probably need to get some ADHD meds.

That would be the Base Exchange/Post Exchange, but it, the Commissary, Shoppettes (convenience stores), and Class Six (liquor stores) all fall under the Army Air Force Exchange Service. The Navy has their own service.

Funny enough there is still rationing. If you are in an overseas base, alcohol and cigarettes are rationed to cut down on black market sales to host nation citizens. We still bought stuff for our friends, though. Bourbon and cigarettes were super cheap compared to what they could buy on the economy. Coffee was also on my ration card, but I don’t think it was actually rationed. No one ever signed it off.

That’s actually how it is supposed to work. Police arrest criminals. If they turn out to be undocumented then ICE is called. Now frame that question in a way that asks if they support what ICE is actually doing, which is harassing people based on ethnicity, yanking random people off the street, holding people in deplorable concentration camps, kicking in doors based on memos they call warrants, beating and gassing protestors, and murdering legal observers.
