not sure if you were being serious or something, but that’s straight incorrect.

the one that makes me irrationally angry is the used car dealership advertising. like the decals are annoying, but the license plate covers/border things that people don’t take off.
like do you really want to be advertising chuck and donna’s used car emporium every time you drive your car?

9·13 days agoI don’t understand what the pig intestines have to do with this.
are you saying it’s a staged photo using pig intestine as the gore, or that they somehow impaled themselves with it?
while I sorta doubt you did the “math on the physics”, my bigger worry is referring to .30-06 as 30.06, as one of those doesn’t exist, as far as I’m aware.
but stating, factually, that there is “zero chance” of the bullet embedding in the collarbone, is pretty irresponsible. there are a multitude of other things that need to be accounted for in ballistics analysis, which even then can be misinterpreted.

14·1 month agointeresting, I suppose that would’ve been an easy thing for me to look up. but I’ll continue with my line of thinking for right now; surely there are equally effective ways, other than evaporative, that could be used.
I recognize the vast difference, but there are plenty of “conventional” cooling methods that could be applied in some manner (radiators being the first to come to mind), without being absurdly cost-ineffective

news@lemmings.world•Sam Altman defends AI resource usage: Water concerns 'fake,' and 'humans use energy too'English
38·1 month agoI don’t truly understand the water concerns that a lot of people talk about. like unless these centers are pulling water from the mains, letting it flow through their system once, then dumping it; I don’t get how they would be using such astronomical amounts as people claim

But every counter-argument to the concerns above rests on the same foundation: technically, users can leave. Technically, you can self-host. Technically, you can run your own relay. The capability exists at every layer. But people don’t do these things. They never have with any protocol. Not email, not RSS, not XMPP. The default wins. Always.
except those explicit examples showing that people do exactly those things?

I like the idea of documenting what I’m doing all that, but I have a hard time rationalizing what should actually be recorded.
like if I’m debugging something, and I’m putting silly print statements to quickly troubleshoot, should I document that?
there are certainly times where it makes sense to have a record, but there seems to be many more instances of not needing it at all, which then makes you see recording it as a silly formality, which then kills any motivation to continue recording.
that pupil dilation is bonkers tho

I don’t love that the headline as well as the first line of the article use the words “says” and “claims”.
the jury ruled he was guilty. we’re so far past “allegedly” and all that garbage. he did it. she was drugged. she was raped. there is no reason to be inferring any amount of doubt anymore.
