I hate that this pun only works in English.

OpenChristian@lemmy.ca•What is your response to Christian Nationalism?English
2·2 months agoFor me “Christian Nationalism” is an almost physically painful oxymoron.
In my understanding, Christians should see ourselves as and live as exiles, as our nation is Heaven.

6·2 months agoAt that point both countries became a United Kingdom.
The later “Independence” of Brazil was just a splitting of the crown, and Emperor Pedro I of Brazil still considered himself a subject of his father king of Portugal.

When I got a beagle I was warned that the race makes for great alarm dogs, but terrible guard dogs, they will bark a lot and then become friends with the burglar.

It being abandoned by the devs is a bit sad, but at least it means great mod stability.

8·2 months agoI completely agree. Here in Brazil there’s a great example of how badly these binaries fail with Getúlio Vargas.
He got into power with the help of the fascists against the communists. But he was an ultranationalist and those were foreign ideologies, so he persecuted both.
He instituted many workers’ rights and was called big father of the poor, but was also a cruel dictator who committed genocide against the natives, and also persecuted white Europeans who did not had Brazilian culture.
After being deposed he got reelected and committed suicide in a way that saved Brazilian democracy from a military coup.

Also, in a bijective number system, every base is 11. (they don’t have 0)

The Dune books.
OK, not boring, but nowhere near deserving the praise they get.
I’ve only managed to get through the first two.
