Do you prefer to have everything as a native application then?

Linux@programming.dev•Linux gaming is getting faster because Windows APIs are becoming Linux kernel features
3·3 days agoBecause if I say CAD then it would include KiCAD which is rock solid already and IMHO is perfect for most SME too

Linux@programming.dev•Linux gaming is getting faster because Windows APIs are becoming Linux kernel features
6·4 days agoI honestly welcome it. It brings up a lot more than just games in the future like MCAD and maybe even more creative apps.

4·6 days agoI prefer reticulum. They make it so the network is independent of the physical layer. You can even use old AX.25 modem if you wanted to. Which is what I did. I basically use MCU to be a modem and use 3.5mm jack to connect it to any amateur/HAM radio

Linux@programming.dev•PS5 Linux project released, turning some PlayStation 5 consoles into Linux PCs
3·19 days agoIdk about that. There are many uses for compute units beside training. Inference may still be possible. But also, I’m just remembering that time the PS3 was used as a super computer. If general purpose compute hardware is subsidized, I think gamers won’t be able to get it and instead it will get to the hands of corporations or research institutes for cheap compute hardware. Why spend 1k to get a sub-par machine when you can get the same one with say $500 (if valve subsidize it)

2·20 days agoAnd people wonder why valve won’t subsidize their PC. If they do, they’ll run out fast. And not by gamers

2·21 days agoAhh, you have the new install. Yes that is a known issue. I was installing it before they did the switcheroo with their custom distribution QT6 webview (the root cause of the issue). If you have the old install it still works just fine

4·21 days agoAffinity can be installed on Linux via WINE just fine. There’s even a repo for it. Fusion360, of all things, also works the same way. WINE is not just for gaming

The author just push LLM nonsense. PWA’s are great for field app where internet is scarce and without the need to rely on google to keep side loading possible. Not to mention the nightmare if you even want to deploy the side loaded app to a fleet of phone without needing to use google play store to publish it as an internal app.
