Wait, that’s not a porn site?
I always thought it was (g)o to (d)efinition.

Britain did conquer the region, historically that’s how it’s changed hands between empires. The Ottoman’s took the land by conquest in the 16th century, taking it from the Mamluks who conquered it in the 13th century, taking it from the crusaders who conquered the area two hundred years before, who took it from the Rashidun Caliphate who conquered it in the 7th century, and on and on.

So instead of taxing the rich we just let corporations scam extra money off them? Thanks I hate it.
Which is after dumping $40 billion into their economy in the form of financial aid.
Basically we’re propping up their beef industry instead of funding snap.
Yeah, I can dig that. Frankly my outrage is more about the cutting of nutritional assistance to impoverished humans, but the funding of industrial beef farming is also pretty fucked up.
They’re taking the money from people who need it and are using it to pay people in Argentina to torture and kill cows.

Bush bailed out the banks. Obama handled the auto industry, who had to give up some control of their companies and pay us back with interest, and they did so.

Prisoners can’t consent

Well I personally do run a business out of my home, and I take security very seriously.
I’m not selling anything, I’m explaining the importance of keeping your operating system up to date.
Email phishing attacks often target OS exploits, there’s two Windows 10 zero days that just came out which allow code to run with elevated permissions without user authorization. That’s the sort of thing that enables a piece of malware compromise your entire system.

That game is a hidden gem. So many dope story beats.

Backups are important, but it’s also important to have a secure OS; they can do a lot more than delete your data, you can have your session keys stolen, your accounts compromised, and your files used for blackmail.
I guess if you don’t use the computer for anything except games, and you backup your saves, then you can treat the machine like a toy and let it get owned, factory reset when you want to use is again; but even then, you’d be letting the attacker into your network.
I really can’t imagine a situation where it’s better than just using Mint, which is more reliable and secure than any version of Windows could ever dream of being.

Last time I tried it worked totally fine. Most mods just hook into the base game, which is running the same as on Windows.

They agreed on bailing out the banks in 08, which is why I picked that year. Then the tea party movement pushed us into a deadlock and we’ve been there ever since.

El Salvador is literally running a death camp, they don’t plan to ever release the prisoners. They just keep them alive for free labor and to avoid the stigma of running a Holocaust; but Germany was the same at first, they only ramped up the death at the end of the war.

Third time’s a charm.
It’s wild to me how difficult switching can be when so many devices come with Linux and people don’t even think about it.
The Steamdeck is more stable than any windows gaming PC I’ve had; Android phones are rock solid, less prone to issues than a PC; Chromebooks work forever without getting malware, and receive updates for more than a decade; but try to DIY it and you’re in the fire swamp of driver issues.
Have you tried Mint? It usually just works. Atomic distros are also looking pretty promising, they’re so stable and recoverable.

Sure, they’re just venting, but I just wanna talk about Linux all day. I’ll listen to their problems, treat them with respect and understanding, but you better believe I will also squeeze in a little special interest sauce on my side of the conversation sandwich.

Well you can forgive loans with executive orders, I don’t think you can change the system without an act of Congress. Our legislature is no longer functioning, it’s been locked in a cold civil war since at least Trump, maybe as far back as 08.
Huh, well I took criminology in 2006 so I guess I’m out of date on that. I’m glad it’s not as bad as expected; I still think the US in particular has a long way to go in regards to rehabilitation.
It’s also strangely cultural, where it seems that some countries have substantially lower rates of offenders and others much higher. It just seems like the systems here perpetuate the crimes in a way; like the abuse of children is this curse inherent to capitalistic christian patriarchy.
Yeah, the solution is to have a functioning rehabilitation system. But in the US, with the system we currently have, it doesn’t seem to make a difference how long you keep them there. We actually have a higher recidivism from our rehabilitation than from doing nothing at all.
So, in order of effectiveness:
The only benefit to a long sentence is that it reduces the number of years they can spend harming children, though there’s a fairly high chance they abuse fellow inmates instead, who could then become abusers themselves once they get out, so the whole thing is fucked and stupid.
Sure, but how many tons of CO2 can I emit reading a book?
