I mean even if you’re not explicitly selling pardons you don’t have to worry about the political consequences of a pardon if it’s your last term in office and can’t run anymore due to being term limited. So the system is broke from the very start and just allows presidents to override enforcement of laws they don’t like at the federal level.

14·7 months agoDang I didn’t realize they were still updating this game, it’s been around for a long time.
I mean spaghetti code is a part of learning a new tool, my first Unity projects I did back in highschool have some really bad spaghetti code. I’ve since learned from then and found better ways to organize things to avoid that. But yeah if you’re just letting AI write your spaghetti you’re not gonna understand why it’s bad and that prevents learning what you can do better next time.

Wouldn’t the gas still seep into the sewers in that case?
I mean if he’s genuinely interested in learning Unity and just using AI to help with learning that’s good, but yeah if he’s just making the AI do all the work and relying on it then yeah probably not gonna go good.

1·7 months ago“It won’t be long before Democrats are back in the driver’s seat again,” Padilla added. “When that happens, all bets will be off. Every agency action that Democrats don’t like — whether it’s a rule or not — will be fair game, from mining permits and fossil fuel projects to foreign affairs and tax policies.”
Yeah I’ll believe it when I see it, I have zero faith in Democrats taking advantage of this expansion of power to do any good

Technology@lemmy.world•Adobe Creative Cloud subscriptions are getting more expensiveEnglish
2·8 months agoI wouldn’t be surprised if at this point with the prices they charge, most of Adobe’s users are either working somewhere that has it, or are students who want to work professionally with it, or are people in between jobs who need to keep up skills in it for when they can go back to work. Most anyone I talk to who isn’t doing things professionally and doesn’t plan to go professional will use something like Gimp instead of Photoshop if cost is an issue.
Outside of this though there’s also just the fact that it being the industry standard does tend to cause non-professionals to use it too. Whether it be because they view it as better then the alternatives, or they want to get experience in case they ever want to use it professionally, or they just haven’t heard of anything else and the tutorials they were able to find for what they wanted to do used Adobe products.
Either way though I bet that the majority of the money Adobe makes is from companies buying tons of pro licenses rather than from individual people using it.

51·8 months agoIt’s not even about dumbing down, it’s about presenting the information in an engaging and at least slightly entertaining way. People will watch hours long YouTube video going in depth on topics because those people know how to give the info in an engaging way. Experts either need to pick up those skills or start working with people who already have them. Because the people spreading disinformation focus a lot more on communications since they don’t have to do any real research behind their positions, they just have to focus on selling it.
WarlordSdocy@lemm.eetoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•Anti-intellectualism is sadly not an isolated problem
5·8 months agoEither that or they need to start hiring communications people and taking their advice. And not just like the PR speak communications people but people who have experience with creating something engaging and potentially entertaining as well that can then be merged with the educational message you’re trying to spread. Otherwise people on the other side are gonna focus on spinning their lies in a creative and engaging way and you’ll never win people over.

81·8 months agoI mean it’s not just not wanting to learn a new UI. It’s that a company uses Adobe as it’s standard so if you don’t have experience with it they won’t hire you. And if you try to come in using a different tool they’re just gonna end up forcing you to use Adobe.

Games@lemmy.world•$80 for Borderlands 4 too costly? Randy Pitchford says, "If you're a real fan, you'll find a way to make it happen"English
5·8 months agoYeah I’m really starting to feel like we’re gonna see a lot of these companies shift from doing big AAA games to instead publishing small indie games. Almost all of these big companies have indie publishing arms now and as they start to see good profits from those without having to take on the cost of paying devs themselves I wouldn’t be surprised if they start cutting back on their own dev teams and shifting to that.

121·8 months agoI think a good point related to this was made by a YouTuber called Atun-Shei Films. In one of his Q&A videos he talked about this emphasized the problem is that experts need to get better at communicating with the public in an engaging way. Otherwise you end up with experts who scoff and tell you to just trust them when you ask questions about why they recommend certain things. And that’s the space that anti-intellectual people will fill and provide their own opinion but can communicate it in an engaging way. It’s definitely not fair that you both have to be an expert at something but also have to be good at communicating it but that’s the reality we live in at this point.

Technology@lemmy.world•Stack Overflow seeks rebrand as traffic continues to plummet – which is bad news for developersEnglish
7·8 months agoI mean there’s always gonna be new libraries or frameworks or whatever that will have their own questions to be asked. I think the problem is at a certain point you’ve reached the maximum audience you can appeal to. Which I feel StackOverflow very much has but of course corporations have to keep making greater and greater profits so once you maximize audience you have to find other methods for profit. Which is what leads to rebrand stuff like this.

politics @lemmy.world•AOC Seen as ‘Face’ of Democratic Party — and It’s Not Even Close: New Poll
12·8 months agoYeah I definitely agree, both Kamala and Obama are candidates that acted progressive in their primaries but as soon as they eventually got the nomination they went towards the corporate Democrat establishment. My main question is whether they were progressive at some point but let themselves be changed by the establishment, consultants, and donors or if they never really cared that much to begin with. The end state is the same but the difference is important as it gives us insight into how much power the consultants and others have over candidates vs if they didn’t really care then it wouldn’t have taken much to change them.

586·8 months agoWith Obama they just learned how to take a somewhat progressive candidates and bend them into a moderate. It’s the same thing that happened with Kamala, although of course it’s hard to say if either were ever really progressive or if they just used that for votes and didn’t mind discarding it once they got pressured by the party and consultants.

News@lemmy.world•ICE adopts new tactic: Deport before court, removing people facing criminal charges
2·8 months agoI mean the problem is the people getting deported don’t have access to guns. They most likely can’t get them legally since they’re not citizens and even if they could get them they probably don’t have the money to afford one.

No you see it’s supposed to be at their will, not your will.
