Mail should be considered a utility like electricity and access to potable water. It shouldn’t be restricted to profitable areas.
Right??? Our geography dictates that there is no way to both be profitable and ensure that all areas of the country have access to mail service, which remains how much government correspondence is handled.

If it wasn’t so dystopian, I’d be for it. Self driving cars that you can book as needed would require less space be devoted to parking and one vehicle could serve as transportation for more people. Combined with easy and accessible public transit and thoughtful pedestrian and cyclist-friendly city design, being less reliant on vehicles sounds like a dream. If you could book the equivalent of an Uber and have it be available within 5 minutes for a reasonable price, why wouldn’t you? In such a scenario, cars would only be for hobbyists. Those who aren’t able to drive (elderly, people with disabilities) would have more equitable access to, well, anything that requires you to physically be somewhere.
Truthfully though, I don’t see a place where capatilism would allow this to happen. Selling everyone their own vehicle, with their own maintenance fees (and now subscription fees), accessories, fuel, etc… is way too lucrative.
Doesn’t sound like a good work environment anyway. That sucks, man.

Many new vehicles are financed, it’s why most ads here (Canada) will give you the biweekly price. Annoyingly, when you do go to a dealer, they are usually able to give a better deal when you finance compared to if you buy outright. The nice thing is though legally we can’t be penalized for paying it down early, so there’s nothing to stop you from financing and then paying it off.
Car payments are a pretty common thing, $1400 monthly in car payments not so much.
It sucks for everyone. I guess except for the doctors who get into it for the money, but insurance billing is one of the biggest culprits of provider burnout in the States.

Healthcare nomenclature is moving away from “opioid overdose” to “opioid poisoning”. This is partly to do with stigma related to substance use- overdose can feel like it assigns blame “well if they just dosed correctly…”. Also, poisoning is more accurate if you consider the fact that many street drugs have impurities, and unless you are having your drugs tested or testing them yourself, you can’t be sure that you are taking the “correct” dose (or even what you are taking at all).
I put did not put “correct” in quotations to stigmatize, but rather to highlight that there isn’t an established correct dose for street drugs. Correct in this case would mean to desired effect, and I understand why people choose to self-medicate so please don’t take offense. Be safe out there!
