Off topic but the fact that anyone still banks there, and that they’re even still allowed to operate, is just crazy to me.

Seriously, this is not “news”

Sounds like we need a Paramount boycott

I just watched Mr & Mrs Smith again last week as my wife had never seen it, and while on the whole it still holds up as a fun ride, Vince Vaughn definitely stuck out. He basically played his character from Swingers, and I’m questioning now as an adult how I thought this was “charming” in the 90s/00s. From a modern perspective his persona was pretty creepy.
I’m so happy there’s an 8 year old out there who knows Strongbad

I’m on lemmy.world and my feed is continuous

Going with this one. I blame Ghost World for starting my obsession with Indian music of all kinds. Started with Bollywood, into traditional sitar music. My playlists now regularly includes music from everywhere that I don’t understand a word of. 😅

Yessss Kula Shaker! I’m so upset I had the chance to see them live exactly once, and I was so drunk (stupidly because of a girl) that I don’t remember any of it. Big big life regret. :(
I’ve heard of “salad cream” only from all the Brit TV I watch. Your comment about fish sandwiches just clicked for me - is this what we would call “tartar sauce” across the pond?

Dumbfucks that my dumbfuck country voted for.

IMO the older B and D lines seem worse, but to be fair I haven’t taken them as often. I’m on the A and E a lot and on average don’t find them to be too bad.

What makes a stadium a more real destination than a neighborhood that people would commute to and from?

The A line is probably on the cleaner side, and it serves its purpose well. It’s a light rail, not a high speed train. People use it daily to commute, and it’s convenient on weekends when you don’t want to drive. The more stops the better IMO. That’s what makes it useful, not just stopping at stadiums.

“Communist”? Does she think that’s interchangeable with “fascist”?

You can make sure he does!

I think you’re reading a little too much into the comment you’re replying to. I didn’t vote for Trump but I’m still embarrassed to have him as our president. Although… outraged to the point of exhaustion would be more accurate.

Just to say, this is on par with how many dictatorships are run. Spur of the moment decisions and edicts, with no actual protocol or procedures behind them beyond “this is a thing now”.
That way when you can’t comply, you can be arrested, despite not being able to comply even if you wanted to.
They may decide one day you now need a certain license to practice your profession, but there are no forms or procedures to obtain this license. If you contact the head of that department you are ignored. However, if the govt wants to shut you down at any point (say if you happen to be publicly dissenting) they can officially say it’s because you don’t have that license. The one that is impossible to obtain.
Of course you continue to work, you’ve got to earn a living, but now maybe you’ll keep your head down so the govt hopefully stays off your back.
I’ve kept it vague on purpose but it’s a real example that I’ve witnessed in an actual dictatorship. Not that the US was ever perfect, but the past year should be alarming to everyone who isn’t a fascist.

Yeah I don’t agree with you, but the place is literally called unpopular opinions, the ban makes no sense.

Some C-suite asshole really thought they were clever shoehorning that “TRAP” acronym in there. These people are just sociopathic children with too much money and power.
Been going thru the Discworld series in published order, and now on A Hat Full of Sky. I think it’s #30ish out of 40ish in the series? It’s taken a number of years, but I’m also getting a bit sad that I’m nearing the end and there won’t be any more. Pratchett was a treasure.
