Senior Chief Petty Officer. Starfleet is in my blood, and I’ve spent my entire adult life in service to boldly going.
Keiko and Molly are my favorite humans, but Transporter Room 3 will always be my favorite.
Just don’t ask who what’s in the pattern buffer.

If posting memes and commenting on memes isn’t therapy then I’m in some trouble…

And the United States government, whose nuclear launch systems for decades had a default “0000000” password on systems so old they figured nobody would know how to hack them in person anymore, and they’re incompatible with the internet.
It’s disturbing to me that my high school hobby of fixing and operating old computers meant I could have launched nukes.

The misfits in question: you wanna take on “The Man” but your mom says you have to be back inside by 5:30 so you can go get a pair of JNCO jeans at the mall.

It’s less that we “send each other videos we know the other doesn’t like” and more “when we’re relaxing and watching videos, we will show each other a funny video or two but eventually neither of us really cares about the videos as much as the other but neither of us dislikes them enough to stop it because it’s not about the videos it’s about spending time with each other”

Last year most of the fields around me turned to slop as it was too wet for many weeks, and most fields couldn’t get equipment through the mud

As someone who has access to about 3kw of solar panels, and wants to cut down on my electricity bill, where did you manage to get batteries so cheap? I’ve been burned on 18650s from supposedly reliable retailers before…

While jailed and unable to pay bills, Lipps lost her home, her car and her dog, she said
Fuck suing, I’m going to prison for murder. I can live without the stuff, but if someone touches my dog they must not like living.

I’ve been managing to drag some of them further left, I think, through conversation about things.
A few are 100% on board with a union as long as I keep calling it “collective bargaining” and don’t use the scary U word.
A few are on board with most social safety nets, especially when they find out Healthcare would cost less than it currently costs them in taxes alone, let alone not having to pay for insurance anymore, but the second you call it socialism or use any sort of word like “welfare” then they panic.
Individually I think I’m breaking some of them, but collectively they’re fucking idiots.

There’s a pretty simple test, IMO
Ask a person “is bombing a school filled with children okay as long as the end goal brings about the end of the world?”
If they answer “yes” then just immediately drop them into a meat grinder and use the remains for fertilizer.
Maybe it’s my cynical side, but I genuinely don’t think people like that can be fixed, so while it might be considered “cruel” it’s better to just put them out of everyone’s (including their own) misery, a “nuthouse” just gives them a place to congregate and keep trying to spread their hate.

I honestly think it would just be the US once again attacking itself in order to justify something terrible.

I think they’re implying all Jewish people are a monolith and therefore israel would never attack, because Israel is largely Jewish and wouldn’t risk hurting another Jewish person in a false flag attack.
I honestly don’t know how they could think a country willing to do false flags would care about hurting someone who has ties to their country’s people, be it religious, ethnic, or otherwise.
Fuck, the CIA in the US has admitted to doing horrible shit to americans that got some killed. Why would Israel care if some people die who happen to share a religion with their country’s people?

To anyone who thinks this is an exaggeration, remember my coworkers:
Most believe vaccines will kill you before old age does
Most believe doctors are never going to provide a real cure because then they’d be out of a job
Most believe masks make more people sick than they keep from getting sick
And most disgustingly, most of the guys I work with don’t wash their hands and the ones that do usually just wash BEFORE they go, and then put their hands all over things in the bathroom, even before lunch.
If my coworkers are like this, imagine how many more people all around you every day are like that, or worse.

Useless knowledge: a black hole can technically exist inside a super-massive star.
The gravity of the black hole pulls in hydrogen, the force of the hydrogen fusion and Hawking radiation pressure from the black hole try to push the hydrogen/star stuff out.
For awhile at least, with enough supply of hydrogen (that likely doesn’t exist in a large concentrated enough supply), it can hold itself in balance as the biggest star you’ve never seen.
Note: take this with a grain of salt, this is my understanding of a kurzgesagt video I watched while high.

I don’t like all the videos of “red flag vs green flag” and “AITA” posts my wife shows me.
She doesn’t like the piano-comedy skits and blacksmithing videos I show her.
We both watch the videos, and discuss them after watching.
Crazy how couples work out like that!

Dyshan Best, 39, was shot in the back last year as he fled from officers in Bridgeport, Connecticut. A report released Tuesday by the state’s inspector general found that the shooting was justified because Best had a gun in his hand and the officer pursuing him had reasons to fear for his own safety.
If I shoot a rich white man in the back who is running away from me and claim I “feared for my life” I’d probably get the death penalty.

My coworkers have already managed to blame Obama for making a “shitty deal” with Iran, and Biden for not “dealing with Iran sooner”

As usual, I’m left wishing I had the money for an EV.
Yes, ideally I’d rather be able to use my bicycle and cargo trailer for shopping and public transit for work, but thats literally nonexistent.

ShittyScience: the reason for increasingly volatile weather, commonly referred to as “climate change” and “global warming”, has been revealed to be Butterflies all along. They’ve been taking our use of pesticides personally, and are retaliating in the only way they can: by flapping their wings strategically to create specific and dangerous weather patterns.
Knowing nothing about these specific setups, but knowing how charging lithium ion and LiFePO4 batteries work and my own experience with charging at different rates, yes.
It definitely reduces the battery life to jam that much current in and out of it, the higher rate you charge, the less accurately you’ll get to 100% charge, and you don’t want to overcharge or repeatedly undercharge it. This will more rapidly degrade the battery.
That said, with battery prices plummeting, and presumably only doing this when you absolutely NEED the charge ASAP, it might be worth it to have the ability to charge that fast.
Plus it would make for some sick EV racing, when you have set battery sizes and 10-30 second pit stops for more power being part of the race.
