Very interesting! I recently started using FEX in GameHub Lite and hadn’t heard of it before (of course I was familiar with Wine, Proton, Box64, etc.) so this is great timing!
Good presentation without being too technical.

Never let the general public name anything if you want a serious name! I think Leaf-Fall Weapon should have won.

It has .ia in the file name because it was processed with the Internet Archive’s MP4 tool which optimises the file for streaming by moving some content in the file around. Very common for Internet Archive files and nothing to do with AI.

That award was rescinded and given to Roy Dotrice for A Game of Thrones (2004) where he voiced 224 characters. I believe Jim Dale did hold the record before that though with 134 voices for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
I saw the original post and have set up a donation through liberapay. If we don’t want to be the product then we need to pay for the product!
Toasted but I do deviate from many here by preferring butter (French, salted) with jam (French, often strawberry). Much as the British crumpet is the best bread product, I will bow to the supremacy of French accoutrements.
Good weekend, although lots of tidying up and getting ready for some building work. Spent some time down by the river over lunch on Saturday.
The week was busy - we are over stretched at work and I could do with more people!

They addressed it in the comments on the article - basically they are worried about being sued by Meta if they make copies of the post. Walled gardens are like that so I can see why they are cautious - however I’d prefer they at least included a separate link so you could KNOW it was linking out to Instagram.
Cello TVs are god awful unfortunately. We used them at work and we had something like 7 returns on 6 TVs. Hopefully their carbonator is better!

There is a picture - it’s an Instagram embed

Underrated reference.

Truly awful name!

You mean right and wrong :)
Biggest concern for me is probably how expensive this app is - Strongbox Pro is £80 (it was £34 when I bought it in 2021) so there is a lot of incentive to get more buyers and limited incentive to keep your current customers happy.

Hopefully I won’t get shot for recommending a Japanese brand but if you get a chance to try the Sony WH-1000XM5s I find they work well over my glasses.

I pay the server admins for feddit.uk (the instance this community is hosted on) to help with hosting costs because I think they provide a valuable service. Currently I am not paying towards Lemmy (I do pay towards Mastodon development however) but I may start doing that in the future.
My £5 a month to Feddit.uk and £1 a month to Mastodon isn’t much but it’s orders of magnitude more than Reddit and Twitter would have earned from my (adblock using) eyeballs before so hopefully a few of us paying a few pounds/euros/dollars directly is enough to support the services.
Edit (approx. one month later): I am now supporting Lemmy development directly, ~$5 a month which I hope makes it sustainable if enough people contribute.

Irn Bru 1901 is that - and it’s caffeine free. The only irn bru I’ll drink now.

Keep fighting the good fight! I hope it will happen soon
Lots of laptops are actually made by Clevo - they are Taiwanese at least. ASUS and MSI are also Taiwanese.
Some manufacturers like CyberPowerPC are at least assembled in Europe - same with Chillblast. Likely a Clevo or Tongfang (Chinese) laptop underneath though.
Otherwise Nokia in Finland, Medion, SHIFT, Tuxedo, or Wortmann all from Germany spring to mind.
