I’ve been keeping the KC1 attached to a Victorinox Classic SD Alox for when I really want to minimize - but with an eneloop AAA.

Though I’ve had some issues with keeping the O-Ring off of the threads (seems the little groove?, for the O-Ring to seat into isn’t deep enough), and been wondering about the E3A (Bonus points that it’s so much smaller).

They seem to have changed their colour names a bit - I assume the Slate Blue you are referring to is the current “Dark Blue”?

How do you like the E3A?

Man I remember installing custom roms on my GALAXY S2 back in the day. I had done so much research on what was the best one, and the steps it took to correctly do. I was so nervous the first time, scared that I would brick my phone.

The little white text on the black screen… Made me feel like a movie hacker lol.

Haha 100% Went back and forward so many times on whether I should or not, then what brand, then what model, then what options etc etc.

Though luckily I don’t seem to have multiple hobbies on the go in a given month, which means the Allowance budget ain’t too unhealthy lol.

When you sit down and think about it, especially now, I don’t really know.

I would guess it had a lot to do with the fact that when I was younger, everything seemed to be centered in the US. Films, TV Shows, a lot of Sports I watched, Companies etc etc. Also, the fact that NZ is so small, and the US seems so BIG, makes you want to live that sort of lifestyle.

Again, as I start getting a bit older, I have come to really appreciate living in NZ. I still might travel somewhere International and try living there for a few years (if everything aligns at some point), but not really too fussed about it anymore. When some of my friends started moving overseas, I would say I was jealous for a bit, and it really made me wanted to do the same, but now it’s a lot of indifference.

Seeing as your from lemmy.ca, I assume you are from Cananda? In that case, if you don’t me asking, what would you say are some similarities in Canada, to how the US is portrayed in Hollywood, and differences?

What were some of the big/key differences you noticed between the two?

The original plan was to actually do something similar. Start at SF, visit some National parks like Yosemite, go to Seattle and then drive on over to Canada… But with some of the early outbreaks in the US happening in and around Seattle, that quickly hanged to Just Canada, which quickly changed to Lets do a NZ Roadie, to lets just stay at home :)

Measure what’s seems like 10 times, cut/drill, find out you measure correctly, but didn’t take into account some variable…

Yeah, ended up pulling the trigger on one lol. Then once your set on getting one, it’s a whole other process to try and kit it out to how you want it. Honestly took a few weeks of research to get me somewhat comfortable with the choices I made.

Yeah the software seems pretty crazy. It’s honestly amazing to see people turn their hobbies/passions into something so polished/professional.

It’s quite unbelievable really. The number of options, including but not limited to: Emitters, Drivers, Software/Firmware, Body Materials, Colors, Sizes, Battery Types, Type of light beam you want etc etc.

Als, as someone used to “normal” flashlights, and LED Worklight types, the amount of light some of these tiny handheld things put out seems crazy.

As an example, this is a small flashlight from a popular creator whos name is Hank. Hence people refer to his lights as “Hank Lights” Hank Light

I tend to go down rabbit holes, and have a “Hobby of the month” type thing. Currently it’s Flashlights lol. Such a weird thing to get into, but the rabbit hole is very deep.

I’ve been talking about doing something like this for a few years now… but still havent got around to it lol.

I keep telling myself I’ll do it when we move to a single storey house with accessible eaves - as we currently live in a two storey concrete block / brick veneer house which seems like additional hassle to run cables etc

We had actually planned to visit Seattle/British Columbia right before Covid Lockdowns hit, and havent really thought about it since.

To be honest, a lot of my sense of connection with the USA was due to Sports that I follow, and due to constant portrayal from Films/TV Shows. Other than that, don’t really have a sense of wanting to visit North America at this point in time.

I’ve recently adopted a mostly (I’ll go Vegetarian or rarely have Meat when I’m meeting a large group of people and it’ll get in the way of the whole thing), and honestly I’ve been surprised how little I crave Meat.

Though it’s probably been easier due to my Wife, who has been very supportive in our home meal choices.

Honestly scary stuff happening. My once dream of getting over to the States, when I was younger, has now died out.
