  • There are far too many loopholes for me not to hate companies be they small or large.

In Australia, “family trusts” are a sure way to write off a good chunk of your expenses (groceries, fuel and so on) while paying yourself a wage. If you really want you can cook the books taking cash sales for yourself too.

Don’t forget about “taking” whatever you want from the company, and writing that off as a loss.

Maybe I should hate people, but in a vacuum people are reasonable, logical and honorable. But once we introduce a “well maybe” or an “but what if I were to purchase fast food and disguise it as my own cooking?” my view of people becomes skewed.

I guess, I wanted to vent about how fucked everything seems to be and that I feel powerless to do anything about it. GameStop as a company probably deserve the rocks in boxes, Amazon deserve them too, all because people are running those companies.

I’m not above greed, but I’d like to think / feel that I put out more than I take and it seems quite uncommon in our modern society.

  • Honestly looks like the carton was in the sun letting them sag like that, the “air” in the bag is probably nitrogen or another gas to help keep them shelf stable. It will also help protect them during shipping keeping the bag rigid.

Story about the sun, we had cartons of ddr4 sitting in the Western Australia sun during CV19, not for a long duration of time. When we unpacked the plastic clamshells were warped, some to the point where the modules were escaping the packaging. No damage to the products, just an annoyance.

  • Proxmox Helper Scripts are an easy way to get a homelab setup, I’ve found its as complex as you want it to be:

    https://tteck.github.io/Proxmox/

Easy to make a ZFS pool and share that to a container / VM. Pass-through a GPU to a VM / Container for transcoding. Plenty of tutorials online for these features.

I’m running some old hardware on my setup currently, 64gb ddr4 x99 platform with no issues and planning on moving to a more recent Intel consumer platform.

OMV can be run in a VM / Container on proxmox, but I find that’s redundant for a single node when using ZFS.

I feel the small hump in initial configuration of proxmox is worth the payoff for long-term expandability.

Saying so my views may be skewed as I migrated from w10 pro to proxmox, I’ve delt with some issues (from my lack of understanding of the platform), had some complete rebuilds of containers and am still dealing with the pains of having upgraded to the unstable channel; trying to migrate back to the stable channel.

All proxmox aside I’m planning on moving everything over to nixos after having it installed on my desktop and laptop for a few weeks now.
