The amount of dust that would get poured into the room would almost certainly set off the fire suppression system, sucking the oxygen out of the room within 30 seconds of activation and suffocating anyone left inside.

I’m curious what you mean by “no data centers should be built in this country”.
Almost everything on the Internet exists because a data center is hosting it.
If all of the data centers exist outside of the country, not only latency issues would arise but data security and availability concerns as well.
If there were no datacenters anywhere, the Internet would be a much slower, unreliable, and sparesly populated place.
They have also started showing “sponsored” locations as the first search result, often being ridiculously inconvenient and not at all what was searched for. For example I went to look for the Costco near me, and the first result was a Target nearly 20 miles away.

Actually Infuriating@lemmy.world•Company Requiring Invasive MS app to use Teams/Outlook on Phone
2·4 months agoDepending on the industry / region in which you work, they will have regulatory obligations to protect sensitive data such as PII and PHI. From a business perspective they are trying to remove liability and decrease of obvious attack vectors they have limited control over. From an individual perspective, they are implementing controls that protect the privacy rights of their customers. As a security professional, it’s good to see. Personally I would always prefer to keep work and personal items separate to reduce the chance that I’m the cause of a breach.

Actually Infuriating@lemmy.world•Company Requiring Invasive MS app to use Teams/Outlook on Phone
0·4 months agoIt depends on the registration profile they require. If they have you register it as a company owned phone vs a BYOD device.
BYOD registration creates a separate partition on your phones hard drive for the apps installed via the company portal. They cannot see all apps on the device, or any web traffic, sms, phone calls etc. they cannot lock the device or wipe the device in its entirety, only the apps on the company partition.
So in short, it depends on how the IT / Security department setup the device registration, and the registration process will notify you of the access level and allow you to accept / deny.

Depends on what the end goal is. Wire fraud? Sure. Typically a Business Email Compromise will try and compromise the account credentials to use it as a location to send other mass phishing attacks to their contacts, gain access to sensitive information the user had, or laterally move between systems and further compromise the organization. In that case, you would want the message to appear as legitimate as possible to gain access to the highest privileged accounts.

156·1 year ago“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
I find it incredibly un-american to reject those searching for safety and to make a better life. Welcome them, shelter them, and grant them citizenship. That is what this country was founded for; to escape persecution, and to ensure every man their freedom in the pursuit of happiness.

I have smoked to some level, nearly every single day, for 15 years. I haven’t scromited once.
