  • The title is misleading.

This is still happening, unfortunately, even using the same excuse of child exploitation as always. The main mass-surveillance and age verifications are still in there.

    from https://fightchatcontrol.eu/:

Thanks to public pressure, the Danish Presidency has been forced to revise its text, explicitly stating that any detection obligations are voluntary. While much better, the text continues to both (a) effectively outlaw anonymous communication through mandatory age verification; and (b) include planned voluntary mass scannings. The Council is expected to formally adopt its position on Chat Control the 18th or 19th of November. Trilogue with the European Parliament will commence soon after.

  • The game moves on rails, doesn’t encourage exploration, doesn’t have any side content or freedom or sidequests until post-story…which also is lacking in content.

To make it better: the game runs terribly even on the latest hardware, matchmaking with friends is a hassle, confusing and doesn’t have an online hub… This is all a deviation from previous MH games, and some features from previous games just don’t exist in wilds.

The story and are combat fine, but the game just forces the story too much and doesn’t give the player much freedom until it’s finished.

    Also denuvo.

  • UPDATE: I am an idiot.

I was setting the acceleration method for the wrong device all the time. I didn’t realize to select the actual mouse from the dropdown in KDE mouse settings until I plugged in my old mouse in.

Anyway that’s the acceleration solved. Also as qwesx pointed out, there is some issue with my Logitech Pro X Superlight. The mouse feels more sluggish when using the wireless dongle compared to it being wired. Must be the wrong polling rate or something?

  • No worries! I switched to AMD (7900 XTX) before christmas and so far I’ve had no issues. A 6800XT should have pretty similar performance to a 4070, not a bad choice either. The drivers are pretty much matured already so most of the launch issues, like VR performance and power usage should be resolved by now.

But NVIDIA also just works, even though the cards can be massive, and they are quite energy efficient. Their control panel is straight from windows XP era though :D

I’m sure whatever you’ll have a great gaming experience no matter what choose :)
