Citizen Sleeper was phenomenal. I really liked how it handled branching choices and the limitations of time.
In my attic, I have an Open-Stub J Pole and a 20m dipole. They work pretty well! You’ll need to make sure that you don’t have a metal roof or any foil layers in the roofing or insulation. If you’re running a dipole, try to avoid electrical wires – if you can’t, have the dipole cross them at a 90º angle.

Technology@beehaw.org•Zen Browser: A New Privacy-Focused Browser(Firefox)English
5·1 year agoI’m definitely curious. Browser-switching is annoyingly mentally difficult, though. I keep bouncing between Arc and Firefox, so maybe this is the perfect marriage.
The aprons keep it nice and sturdy. Although now I’m at work and wondering if I added a stretcher along the bottom lengthwise… I can’t recall.
I made this design from Matthias Wandel a few years back, and it has served me well. I had a big piece of laminated MDF that someone left in the garage after we bought our house – perfect for the top. I do with that I had something heavier for when I need to whack a chisel or do some ripping with a handsaw, though.

Japanese Language@sopuli.xyz•So Japanese is just... backwards? Some questions are real bullshit in Duolingo latelyEnglish
6·1 year agoYeah, I gave up on Duolingo. I joined a Japanese-English Discord server and feel like my actual conversation skills have gone way up. I’m happy to share the invite link, but I don’t want to seem spammy, so I’ll post it if anyone requests.

Gaming@beehaw.org•Maybe hot take: as a handheld, the regular switch is an awful handheldEnglish
0·2 years agoIt’s definitely not as comfortable as something like the Steam Deck, but I played so much Switch while commuting on the train since it came out. It’s been a real joy to have. It’s also WAY smaller than any of the current-gen handhelds.
What do you mean by “cart games being downloaded in full to the system?”

Gaming@beehaw.org•With Nintendo Switch Online having emulators like gba and 64 etc. Would you play those versions or would you continue to emulate those games on another device?English
3·2 years agoI’m in a similar boat. Before I had my Steam Deck, I played retro Nintendo games on the Switch. However now I prefer to move between my Steam Deck, PSPi6, and Anbernic handhelds (depending on what I want to emulate). It’s annoying that you can’t get the save files off the Switch, though. I have some games that I got pretty far into, and I would like to move those over.

4·2 years agoThat’s fine, but we need to just admit that and stop trying to get the big users to stay by sheer force of will. Either give them the tools they need or accept that Mastodon isn’t for them and that they’ll go elsewhere. You can’t have it both ways.

22·2 years agoI follow him on Mastodon, and I think many regular users misunderstand his specific problems. They’re unique due to his huge number of followers, and I think that if we want Mastodon to grow, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to include more tools for folks with large followings.

38·2 years agoYes, but it’s just not statistically significant. Unless we see longer-term trends of her follow count, this could easily be a random fluctuation, bot crackdown, etc.

Seems a little harsh — we’re all stuck under the heel of capitalism and have to find a way to survive. Not everyone has the luxury and privilege of just walking away before they have something else lined up.
