I tried a few reverse image searches (below) with no luck. Closest thing I found is Cockcroft–Walton generator

I am guessing those are Cockcroft-Walton accelerators and that is the first stage of a larger particle accelerator. The pools on the right might provide some clue. They could be there for cooling or radiation shielding, or both.

That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking of. 😅 Great movie, one of my favorites. Maybe they drew some inspiration from the real science guys?
I’d say a High Voltage Laboratory at first glance but this looks like a more permanent installation.
