    It’s not about being boring. Protestantism came into existence out of protest, because the Catholic church was accepting money to lower the punishment for sins.
    Without this money, you’re less likely to build elaborate cathedrals. But I imagine, it’s also a matter of not wanting to indulge in the same gluttony as the Catholic church.

      Sure, but there’s a big difference between an austere Calvinist church and fold-up chairs in a rented hall often used by so-called “non-denominational” (a term I absolutely hate, because it’s just a lie) churches.
