Honestly, best news I could hear about it. They wouldn’t do it justice.

I’ve said it before, I love the fallout show because it’s completely separate from the story and hate the last of us because it’s a mirror copy.

I feel like fallout encouraged people to the play the game, while the last of us replaced the game for people. So why bother? Mass effect I want to encourage more people to play the game because it’s such a good story and holds up well. I want the show to support that

fallout works well because the lore of its universe is more important than the characters of the game. the characters shape the trajectory of how the universe shakes up, but when their story is over, its over. it makes writing new characters into the fallout universe very easy.

I love the fallout show because it’s completely separate from the story and hate the last of us because it’s a mirror copy.

I love Fallout because, while a separate story, it respects the source material and was clearly made with passion by people who love the games.

For the same reason, I love The Last of Us because it respects the source material and was clearly made with passion by people who love the games.

I hate the Halo series because it was clearly made by a committee and completely disrespects the source material.

I think the key to making successful video game adaptations is the same as any successful adaptation: respect and passion. Leave the boardroom out of the process.

I love the first season of the Witcher because it respects the source material and was clearly made with passion by an actor who really loves the Witcher.

I hate the other seasons of the Witcher because it was clearly made by shitty writers who actively hated the source material.

Never forget the cardinal rule of adaptations: The source material is what made millions of dollars, not your shitty untested ideas.

Yeah the best episode in Last of Us wasn’t even part of the main storyline but a fleshing out of some of the side characters.

I was initially upset about this news but you’re totally right on this. I’d much rather have a new in-world story than see my legacy besmirched on screen.

Let Shepard be Shepard IMO. I am sad it takes place after the series though. Show us the first contact war with the Turians, now that’d be awesome. The twist at the end being that we’re all allied, and something looming that’s bigger.

Fallout isn’t separate from the story, it’s a sequel to the games Bethesda had no right to touch and treated the West coast plotline with an eradicating contempt.

It was also pretty good despite that though.

After seems like an odd choice unless it’s way after. The end of the reapers was galaxy altering regardless of choice. A prequel seems like it would be easier to do.

I’m extremely skeptical that they’ll pull off Mass Effect in a live action TV show with the quantity of alien makeup/prosthetics/CGI that would be required. They would have been much better off with a fully animated show imo.

They are probably trying to bridge the gap between ME3 and ME4 (if it ever comes out, that is).

bet you its just a season long ad to satisfy the lore nerds for the next mass effect since they’re rebooting the series and (hopefully?) improving on the ending of 3

Definitely better than trying to make a TV series of the show as long as it respects the source material and is an interesting stand alone piece of media.

      it respects the source material

That’s a hard ask, considering how often writers will completely fuck over the source material. Especially egregious are the ones who just slap a IP on top of whatever shitty script they were writing at the time.
