Man I’ve always hated sports games and dancing. My learning curve for everything coordination is soooo much flatter than everyone else’s. I mean that literally, I have never once seen someone learn how to do anything physical more slowly than me. Super frustrating and bad for self esteem.

I just run and swim because I can live with the pain and boredom I experience much better than that intense frustration of not being able to get my body to do what I’m trying to get it to do. Worth it for feeling noticably better physically and mentally, so I keep doing it.

About getting frustated about lagging behind, I like to think that the person shouldn’t seek to be better than others, but rather be better than one’s past self.

I mean, yeah. But the nature of games is that you play with and/or against someone and that’s not much fun if you’re noticably dragging everyone down. That mindset works much better in running for me, and I actually apply it to that!
