Oh, they are absolutely dedicated to each other, he adores my mom and she loves him fiercely but he is just not willing to consider a will and face his mortality. It’s common, honestly. I am going to be doing a full court press on the matter this coming year. Mom is in her 80’s and is in good health, they both are - but still.

This is the main reason I don’t bother with radio or streaming services anymore. It’s all the same, just the industry on a 30 year cycle of regurgitating the same formats aimed at age-group demographics.

I really can not muster interest in Taylor Swift or Kanye or any of the mainstream acts of the last few decades. It’s not that it’s bad or not well crafted, so much as I’ve already heard those sounds before.

Listening to music does get more challenging as you get older and are still searching for new styles and more complex compositions to listen to.

My mom is in a similar boat.

She’s been in Hawaii for decades, living with a guy and they’re not married and she’s not on the will for the property that he owns - even though she’s paid the taxes for it on and off over the years…

I have asked her why he can’t set that up to take care of her if anything happens to him and it’s just that he’s lazy and thinks - like a lot of people do - that he’s going to last forever.

I worry about it, and mention it often but the answer is always the same.

I honestly think that people with kids DO want a better future for their kids, but they think the kids will sort that on their own.

They spend more of their energy focusing on the kids and supporting them, than to actively plan and execute forward steps…

You should. Be mindful it’s relatively low-budget but the story is insanely good and the puzzle box that people mention is one of the few movie prop items I see at conventions and in stores that I will not touch.

I watched the playthrough of Death Stranding, as it got too depressing for me about halfway through. Totally get it. I paid a lot for it though, so felt kinda bummed that I’d dropped that cash and couldn’t muster the energy to play it to the end.

On the other hand, I’ve got over 2,000 hours in on No Man’s Sky, (I’m playing in creative mode now and having a blast building cool bases in breathtaking locations) which I got on sale through GOG for 10 bucks, so I suppose it balances out.

The one that I’ve come to a complete stop in is The Talos Principle, and I love it but just can’t seem to finish it. Has been as frustrating to finish as Firmament, which was built for VR so playing it in 2D leaves a lot to be desired - there’s a ton of items that require exact placement and it’s hard as hell to see how to manipulate then w/o the 3D… Oyyyy.

I think the play was 100% Mike Johnson going “Let’s not swear in the newest Democratic Representative from Arizona and prevent the Epstein Files from being released in full…” and him teling the Republican GOP congressmen to leave went further than he expected, and rolled into the ACA tax subsidy collapse and then the SNAP fiasco.

The congressmen are just as blind as the rest of conservative, middle-class America as to how large the demographc of white Americans on welfare really is.

At this point, you can work on them to bring it all into focus and the FIRST thing I always say is “you gotta get away from the billionaire controlled cable TV and social media sites…” then I point them to the vanilla news sites that have no editorializing, like AP and Reuters.

If they are open to it, I also point them to using Firefox and adding uBO. Given that sites like fb are now running rage-bait scam ads, the ad-blocking is critical.

A lot of the MAGA folks have been overwhelmed by the noise.
