Hey man, I do tarot, read it, then ask my AI what it thinks. It feels real.

…no but for real, I like do draw tarot, and the AI has helped me get better at reading. It’s for funsies; I don’t take it seriously.

Sorry, you want the Tower here.

It’s one of my favorite cards for symbolism, because the story is so apparent on the card. People jumping out of a burning building to their peril.
…watch out for the arrows, Boromir.
Sorry, I thought it was a poem.

Probably a range of things. Like the fediverse is growing, but look at bluesky’s success. They forgo the real benefit of the structure, but people get a “just make a login” experience.
The kids are probably on something I don’t even know.

None taken. Thanks for contributing.

I feel like many Christians in America are completely disconnected from actual values espoused by Jesus in the Bible. Republican (many of the Christians) policy is diametrically opposed to Matthew 25:31. No one quotes John 13:34 because they rather quote Old Testament BS about what’s an abomination. Why not focus on the love for others, including enemies? Why not focus on helping the poor, the sick, the homeless? Why not help the immigrant? The Bible specifically calls this out as a marker of getting into heaven.
Most of these people don’t even read the book. They like the sense of community at a church, but it feels like it’s formed into a total in:out group mentality. We can’t be a Christian nation as long as there are poor & people struggling.
Then the Utah governor says something like, “We can’t have people camping wherever they want.” my emphasis. Bud, they don’t WANT to be homeless. The lack of empathy is so apparent.

I wish more people converted over, but the user experience for the fediverse is very strange for many people, tech inclined folks I know included.

I majored in Ethics, and my professor who helped me on my final project was a Nietzche scholar (Jessica Berry).
Something that helped me was understanding that “God is dead” & nihilism wasn’t about a renouncing of religion or defeatist. It’s supposed to be a “We rage on, build our own world of value, and revel in freedom.” He saw a society where old ways & traditions were falling to the wayside from enlightenment and scientific advancement. How we felt meaningful within society or life was being redefined.
Most of existentialism is “There’s nothing objective out there to provide you answers,” whether that’s spiritual, metaphysical, ethical, etc. Without that arbitrator of reality, we’re left to define meaning regardless.
I’m not the biggest reader or fan of existentialism, but I had a semester on it 10 years ago. :P your (and my) mileage may vary here.

Stoicism is often about how self discipline & a modest lifestyle can bring you fulfillment, and thus meaning.
Existentialism is often a response to the downfall of systems of value, which left a gap to be filled by something.
I don’t think they “saw order”, but maybe “saw truth” or “saw meaning” especially. For instance, Sartre’s work is often about living life in spite of no underlying system of value. Nietzsche was similar.
These are grossly oversimplified reads & explanations.

I followed the chain down here.

He’s popular with every chud you know. One of the worst personalities, truly a child of radical conservative media.

Fuck calling this “Obamacare Price Hikes”. This is Trump’s doing; along with the Republicans. Why isn’t this “Trump hikes”? Oh yeah, everyone just shills now.

I’m out of work. Someone from our church gave us $1000 to get by, and another person gave me $200 this morning. We had a member of our choir and AA group talk about gratitude this morning. Our reverend also talked about her AA experience & speak on gratitude.
I’m a Unitarian Universalist. It’s not the religion you’re used to. But as someone that was an angry atheist for ~25 years, I get the critique of faith.
Wishing you much love & compassion homie.
For comparison (I was curious)
