  • Fight for an Independent California.

Was in the Marines before, hated it and left to go to school. Would never think about joining back up. However I actually unironically would be willing to fight for California to be its own country, America is already on decline and society is fucked in general.

Aside from that maybe I’d expatriate and go to my mother’s home country in Central America and try to improve things there.

  • “Don’t Date Any” personally, girlfriends are expensive and I have put a lot of effort and time in pretty toxic ones that rebounded immediately after to the nearest guy. Obviously wouldnt be single forever but I def should’ve had higher standards.

Aside from that, prob a way to tell me what to invest in. Maybe to short the market right before covid (2020, Put Stocks),

I don’t think I could convey when to sell crypto/bitcoin in just 3 words and it would be a disaster

  • I feel like the rise of live service games and rogue-likes that are based around incremental progression definitely shifted the status quo to everyone having like 1 game, maybe 2, where they spend most of their time. Every game seems to demand you commit more and more time.

The only exception I can think of is Paradox Grand Strategy type games (which is my secondary “main” game)

  • Cursive is good for some people because arthritis, but most people do not use cursive aside from their signature.

I spent a good chunk of 1st and 2nd grade learning it so I can read it but it really did not teach me anything. It’s not like learning a new way of thinking, it’s just muscle memory and practice.

I’m not saying learning how to write is a waste of time, I write alot and while its typing now, I definitely needed to learn to use a pencil. But cursive is like learning how to type on a Devorak(?) keyboard

  • I think removing everything that kids have a bit of a hard time trying to grasp just teaches kids to give up if anything isn’t immediately apparent. Its not as much of a waste of time as cursive, and it’s to be taught to think in another way.

I think that kids “learning how to learn” is really important, especially with how these AI models are stunting like a whole generation of people.

This is minor, but I also think less things need electronic displays/components that are hard to recycle and increase dependency on exploiting X country for Y resource. Its also cool to just be able to build a physical mechanism which digital clocks have no real feasible option to do

  • I agree, but there is things we can move towards, but some are more… radical solutions.

I think the Swiss do something where after a certain point in the education pipeline (Age 16?) they decide either university or vocational school.

I think the ratio is 20-80.

If the decision is made for you (via being evaluated by the institutions in charge of the students) it definitely would be filled with bribes and scandals where the rich try to subvert it.

But if that wasn’t a problem I think it would definitely help university degrees “matter” again and it would be more feasible to make free for those who pursue it.

Again this requires a whole restructuring-- and would not see results for atleast a generation-- and red-lining would potentially have very visible effects on this depending on how its done.

I mean I sold 4 years of my life to the military to not have to take loans out, so I get the gut reaction

The main cause of the student loan issue is the commodification of education. Everyone wanted to go to college and at first it was optional but then as more people did it it became a requirement, then they realized they can charge more and more for education that is worse and worse because a good chunk of people dont actually want to learn / be there. They’re just there for the paper that’ll let them get jobs and not be unemployed, or even just to say that they went.

I look around and people are playing damn Pokémon Showdown in class, there was that one scandal of an influencer girl who was the daughter of someone important that bought her admission to Stanford(?) and would stream literally about how she didn’t care about education she just wanted the college experience.

Hot take: Not everyone should be going to college, High School should just prepare people better. Even if we forgive all loans right now it doesn’t fix the issue. Instead of your problem it will just be your kids’ problem

  • I was barely 23 and am currently dating the same girl I met who was 19. (Its about to be 2 years woo!)

I had just gotten out of military so most girls in my classes were 3-4 years younger and I wasn’t interested in dating (I like women a bit older than me) but she wreckingballed into my life because she saw something she wanted and actively attempted to get it.

This is the best relationship I’ve ever had but I won’t deny that sometimes the response I get to something serious and wanting to plan ahead is met by my partner suggesting I move into the city (alone) to be closer just so she knows what it’s like to have a boyfriend in the city.

Her focuses right now are being young and getting her excitement now before she has to square away. She used to think everyone has a stoner era and that was just what people did, so she was surprised how anti-drug/vice I was. The mental divide is definitely something I would warn people about when dating with age differences.

I dont understand the guys that date fresh 18 year olds in their near 30’s, I know its legal but I genuinely dont understand what a 30 year old would find so interesting about an 18 year old other than just trying to bang/control them.

  • I actually wanted a PS2 port because it works with interrupts rather than polling but they aren’t really included anymore.

I feel like they don’t make boards for people like me who want small boards with a super niche port.

When a MoDT Mini-ITX board comes out with a PS2 port I will buy that instantly

  • I get it and agree mostly. I definitely think socioeconomic classes are more of a defining/dividing line than a heritage you happen to share with someone.

Only <1% of any humans DNA differs, but I think a better point is that everyone is atleast 50th cousins or something (Granted if you share a heritage its much closer)

But also if you told someone like my girlfriend that race isn’t real she’d probably sock you. She’s experienced it and its very real to her.

When we started dating I would actually try to talk about how I don’t understand why she would side with someone solely because their skin was dark like hers and it would be a point of contention. She would literally associate with someone that objectively did something she thinks is reprehensible because of literally only that. She grew up very wealthy and never hurt anyone, guy on the news was someone in and out of prison who literally fired first on the guy that revived him with narcan–but they happen to have the same color of skin.

As a boy other Latinos would literally antagonize me for “acting white” because I would rather read during recess than play football/soccer–because being educated is associated with being white; we were the children of poor families with gangbangers as role models so we must obviously be destined for different things /s

I feel like a lot of racial issues are cultural and self-perpetuating. But my girlfriend in particular was the only black woman in a white conservative town, people would open doors for her friends and close it when it came to her, If I visit her hometown she doesn’t want to be out for long, etc. So I get why it is very important to her.

  • The setup is better than say, Solo Leveling, but once its done it gets a lot blander just like Solo Leveling.

Granted Solo Leveling has way more issues and is 90% carried by good animation.

I also think the protagonist from Arifureta has a really cool niche ability but it really is not used creatively. For all intents and purposes after the first dungeon his power is “gun” (with “gun” being flexible) and sometimes vehicles or a shield, all of which he got from first dungeon iirc.

It’s creative in a sense that he made firearms out of essentially just magic and knowledge but like… it never evolved past that. Hell I’d take a dust explosion every once in a while or something, thermite, acid. But the focus was “aura” and edginess rather than a compelling or clever protagonist.

That said I still plan to finish the newest season and will prob watch whatever comes out next. The aesthetic got me and ig thats the point

  • I like parts of this show but it is just super generic harem anime a lot of the time and not really that good.

    Minor compliant:

    Like with

    spoiler

    Annoint

    being

    spoiler

a new body for that one healer

I feel like they explained away “And we can reverse it so no harm done”, the protagonists win by miles every time and never have any setbacks.

    Major complaint:

One time I literally paused the show, it was when they get this random dude in the desert.

He’s in the backseat of the truck and I paused it thinking “why is this scene wrong”

That’s like the only time I remember a guy ever being in the backseat, it’s like only ever been female love-interests that are part of his (not-a-)harem. They have so many characters (literally the whole class got isekai’d) but no one gets much screen time unless they’re Yue or a girl with a huge bust that gets added to the not-a-harem

  • I thought about this a lot the other day.

Its “justification” is in that era girls go married off even younger than that.

That monk dude has to turn away a girl who’s… 14(?) after she asked him to take her with him and that she’d bear his children.

Personally, in that setting I think it’s fine as long as they are not like fanservice to the viewer and its actually plot relevant. The monk asking her originally is more for humor as it was clearly shown as ridiculous and when it was more “legal” he took it more seriously and shot it down. That kind of humor is definitely a product of its era (wasn’t the age of consent in Japan like 12 until less than a few decades ago?)

Also regarding Kagome, this anime was written by a woman and one of the main demographics is schoolgirls who want their heart to flutter by imagining themselves in a pseudo-isekai. Not saying it makes it right but it personally doesn’t bother me because I get why stories like that exist coughTwilightcough

EDIT: The constitution set it to 13. But most prefectures up-ed it to 16 in recent decades apparently

  • Ngl, i love linux so much more and would never go back to windows but right now my audio jack doesn’t work for my new pc build.

I’ve contacted the manufacturer of the motherboard, they say to try Windows

I’ve posted on linux questions subreddit, nothing replied

I’ve posted on EndeavourOS forums, got views, not replies.

I’ve gone so into the weeds I’m trying to remap pins because I’m assuming the manufacturer relies on something Windows pre-configures so audio will play but it never makes it out of the port but it’s been weeks and I can’t solve it.

Again, I’d never go back to windows but damn do I feel stranded rn.

    I feel like I would treat my Togruta wife very well ;-;

Real talk tho, humans will eventually reach the stars, being negative/nihilist about it and saying it’s better if it doesn’t happen is dangerous because people like Elon/Donald will definitely do horrible things if people with remorse and morals aren’t involved/ already established there / the one’s initiating

Not saying you’re nihilist, but I go to Uni in SF and everyone is so anti-imperialism that they think any form of colonization (even on a dead planet like Mars) is bad and it’s pretty grating.

Elon should not be the one who decides how the land/living conditions are set up

  • Being able to “prove” that something is AI generated usually means that:

    A) The model the generated it leaves a watermark, either visually or hidden

    B) The model is well known enough that you can deduce a pattern and reference what you’re checking with that pattern.

The problem with the former is that you are trusted this corporations (or individuals training their own models, or malicious actors) to do so.

There are also problems with the latter: The models are constantly iterating and being patched to fix issues that people notice (favoring certain words, not being able to draw glasses of liquids full to the brim, etc)

Also, if the image or work was made using a niche or not well-documented AI then it probably wouldn’t be a pattern that you’re checking.

Also also, theres a high false positive rate, because it’s just pattern matching mostly.

  • There is “ELO” in these dating apps,

Swiping a lot at a low success rate makes your elo drop and you appear less in general, and if you do appear it’ll probably be to another low elo person.

I don’t like dating apps but if I had to advise, delete and remake the account to be “fresh” elo with no history and say no atleast 90% of the time. With the 10% being what you think is a decent shot.
